Patient Care Technician - Hospital At Home

The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect patient care services under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role supports the delivery of safe, timely, and patient-centered care by assisting with basic clinical and supportive care needs in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The Patient Care Technician practices in alignment with organizational values, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide direct patient care assistance, including support with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, safety, and comfort measures.
  • Assist licensed nursing staff with delegated patient care activities according to established clinical protocols.
  • Observe patient condition and promptly report changes or concerns to licensed nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to patient care activities.
  • Support patient safety, infection prevention, and environmental cleanliness standards.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow escalation procedures.
  • Prioritize assigned tasks and utilize resources effectively in a high-acuity clinical environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care team members.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant in Florida.
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic clinical care principles, patient safety practices, and standards applicable to acute care settings.
  • Ability to recognize and communicate changes in patient condition to licensed clinical staff.
  • Understanding of infection prevention, standard precautions, and exposure risk mitigation.
  • Proficiency in basic clinical documentation and use of electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to follow clinical protocols, policies, and delegated care instructions accurately.
  • Skill in effective communication within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload in fast-paced, high-acuity environments.
  • Physical capability to safely perform patient handling, mobility assistance, and related activities.
