Type: 6 months Contract to Hire / Direct Hire
Schedule: Primarily Day Shift (Approximately 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Some schedule flexibility may be required based on project demands.
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced OSP Fiber Construction Supervisor to oversee Outside Plant Fiber Construction projects throughout the Tampa market.

This position is highly field-focused and is ideal for someone with a strong background in OSP fiber construction who enjoys being on-site, supervising crews, ensuring quality workmanship, and maintaining project safety standards. This is not a traditional desk-based Project Manager role.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in the field supporting active projects, performing quality inspections, site walks, coordinating with crews (daily field operations, evaluate performance, plan daily work assignments, etc.), reviewing blueprints, redline markups, ensuring projects are completed according to specifications, quality control, as needed, etc. Must have previous hands-on experience with telecommunication fiber projects to provide guidance, determine root cause analysis, perform daily inspections, conduct quality audits, troubleshoot fiber issues, support restoration efforts, and implement best practice standards for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing standards.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise OSP fiber construction projects from installation through completion
  • Oversee underground fiber placement activities
  • Monitor directional drilling, conduit placement, handhole installation, and pathway construction
  • Conduct quality control inspections and ensure work meets project specifications
  • Perform safety inspections and enforce site safety requirements
  • Review construction drawings and identify pathway conflicts or installation challenges
  • Redline construction prints and assist with as-built documentation
  • Coordinate with contractors, field crews, and project stakeholders
  • Verify construction progress and ensure schedule adherence
  • Inspect completed work and identify deficiencies requiring correction
  • Support projects involving both OSP and ISP fiber infrastructure
  • Oversee fiber pathways extending from outside plant infrastructure into communications rooms and network closets
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting
Required Qualifications
  • Experience supervising OSP fiber construction projects
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic installation methods and industry best practices
  • Experience with underground utility construction and fiber placement
  • Knowledge of directional drilling operations
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility prints
  • Experience performing field inspections and quality assurance reviews
  • Familiarity with as-built documentation and redlining prints
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple active projects
  • Have a good driving record and be able to pass MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) check to participate in company vehicle program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Candidates experienced with leading / supervising crews with similar projects involved with aerial or underground construction or underground fiber projects, fiber utility construction, broadband, telecommunications infrastructure, ISP fiber, utility projects, conduit, etc.
  • Any experience as an OSP Foreman or OSP Supervisor, a plus.
  • Fiber utility construction experience highly preferred.
  • Broadband or telecommunications infrastructure experience
  • ISP fiber experience
  • Utility coordination experience
  • OSHA certifications
  • Experience working with aerial and underground fiber projects
Work Environment
  • Combination of office and field responsibilities
  • Dedicated office workspace provided
  • Majority of time spent at active project sites
  • Travel throughout the Tampa market to support multiple projects
  • Ability to participate in Company Vehicle Program, if meet criteria.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has worked their way up through OSP fiber construction and understands how projects are built in the field. They should be comfortable supervising crews, identifying construction issues before they become problems, performing quality inspections, and ensuring projects are completed safely and correctly.
