Job Description

The Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking a Neurohospitalist to join our expanding inpatient neurology service.

This physician will provide comprehensive inpatient neurological care, including consultative and primary management of patients with a wide range of acute neurological conditions. The position supports a high-acuity, tertiary care hospital environment with strong subspecialty collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Lead inpatient care on the general neurology and consult services; vascular neurology fellowship trained candidates will have opportunity to provide care on stroke and telestroke service lines.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and complex neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, seizures, encephalopathy, demyelinating and autoimmune disease, brain and spinal cord tumors, neuromuscular crises)
  • Collaborate closely with subspecialists across disciplines including vascular neurology, neurocritical care, epilepsy, and neurosurgery
  • Participate in care coordination, discharge planning, and transitions of care
  • Focused and limited outpatient responsibilities to include: post-hospital discharge clinic, supervision of resident continuity clinic and fellow clinics
  • Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Educate trainees including residents, fellows, and medical students across various departments
  • Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities

Qualifications

  • MD or DO (or equivalent)
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neurology
  • Completion of Neurology residency; fellowship training in Neurohospitalist care or related subspecialty preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and teamwork
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Florida
