JOB OVERVIEW:
The Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst is responsible for ensuring licensing compliance for Darden-purchased software inventory.
This includes operational software licensing management and reporting to optimize software value while reducing ongoing costs where possible and managing audit risk. This position will track and maintain software license and maintenance agreements, licensing renewals and procurement of new software as well as assist teams with policies & procedures for maintaining software assets. This position will develop reports that pull data from various sources showing software license entitlements, installations, usage, renewal, and procurement status. Reporting will also identify potential licensing issues that will be researched and reported on by this role. This role will also develop standardized SAM processes. This position works closely with subject matter experts, including system architects, system administrators, project and program managers, financial managers, and engineers to obtain critical information required for SAM. This role will also be responsible for maintaining all software licensing agreements in the SAM tool.
Additionally, the Analyst will work with technical teams to ensure accurate inventory of all software assets and help develop and maintain policies/procedures around software asset lifecycle management.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Collect and maintain accurate software licensing information in the SAM application to address budgeting, software inventory, compliance, contract terms, and cost
-Develop and implement tools, processes, and procedures to automate the collection, storage and reporting of key software data so that the products can be managed across the enterprise in an effective manner. Continuously assesses tool capabilities for software discovery, inventory, and meter software use for key vendor products.
-Provide analysis of the software data that can be used to drive key business decisions.
-Work with the software owners and Legal to interpret software agreements, determine use rights and provide key terms and conditions summaries. Ensure compliance by comparing current and future usage plans with those rights. Communicate and track non-compliance issues. Ensure existing and planned future usage complies with the use rights.
-Assist with enterprise license true-up, reconciliation and reporting. Provide support during software publisher audits. Assist with dispute resolution. Recommend audit defense initiatives.
-Provide impact assessments on all pending or potential architectural changes, outline incremental license or maintenance costs due to change and pinpoint any potential cost mitigation opportunities based on license use metrics or product use changes.
-Respond to requests from software owners, end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management information.
-Stays informed of new and updated software license models and options for key vendor products.
-Actively assesses risk and cost reduction opportunities and makes recommendations to software owners and the IT Leadership Team to optimize the software asset portfolio. Identify savings opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimization.
-Process quotes and invoices through Darden procurement solution for Data Center Team, software renewals, and other purchases as required.
-Provide software renewal budget for fiscal year planning and forecasting.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-Bachelor's in computer science, Information Systems/Technology, Engineering, or equivalent work preferred
-Three (3)+ years in a Software Asset Management role
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
-Understanding of Software Asset Management tools and technologies
-Understanding of Software Asset Lifecycle Management
-Knowledge of Software Asset Management principles / practices
-Knowledge of product use rights for publishers such as Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, Broadcom, Quest etc.
-General understanding of hardware technology and configurations including virtualization to assist with licensing
-Experience with Windows and Linux/UNIX environments.
-Strong Excel skills
-CSAM or CITAM certification is a plus
