Job Summary

The School of Aviation and Military Sciences seeks a dedicated and innovative scholar-practitioner to join our faculty. The successful candidate will contribute to a dynamic learning environment by delivering high-quality instruction, maintaining an active research agenda in aviation management, and providing meaningful service to the university and the broader aviation industry.

Duties/Responsibilities
  1. Applied Teaching and Mentorship
    1. Instruction: Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in core aviation management areas such as Airline Operations, Airport Management, Airline Management, Aviation Strategic Management, and other related topic
    2. Course Design: Develop and update curricula to reflect emerging technologies (e.g., AI/Machine Learning in aviation) and current FAA or international regulatory standards.
    3. Format Flexibility: Provide instruction across various platforms, including traditional classrooms, hybrid models, and online learning management systems.
    4. Workload: Typically involves a teaching load of 24 credit hours per academic year (4 courses per semester).
  2. Industry Engagement and Professional Service
    1. External Liaison: Act as the department's primary point of contact for industry advisory boards and corporate partners.
    2. Professional Dissemination: While traditional research is not required, clinical faculty are expected to contribute to professional journals, trade publications, or industry conferences.
    3. Program Assessment: Lead efforts to ensure the program meets rigorous industry standards.
  3. Service and Professional Engagement
    1. University Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university-level committees, as well as student recruitment and retention activities.
      1. Manage the University's participation in the FAA Air Traffic Control Collegiate Training Initiative. (AT-CTI)
    2. Advising: Provide academic and career mentoring to undergraduate Aviation Management majors.
    3. Industry Liaison: Foster partnerships with aviation organizations, airports, and airlines to facilitate student internships and collaborative projects.

Required Skills/Abilities
  1. Prior experience in Part 121 or Part 141 training environments.
  2. Record of teaching excellence at the collegiate or professional level.
  3. Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) .

Education and Experience
  1. Education: A Master's degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, or Business is typically the minimum requirement when combined with significant professional credentials.
  2. Professional Experience: Extensive, high-level industry experience (e.g., 10-15+ years) in airline management, airport directorship, or military aviation.
  3. Certifications: Active professional certifications such as an FAA Commercial Pilot license, Certified Member (C.M.) from AAAE, or Aircraft Dispatcher certificate.

Physical Requirements
  1. Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  2. Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and virtually.
  3. Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  4. Stamina to teach up to 24 hours weekly.
