This is a highly responsible administrative position and a member of the Senior Leadership team. Duties include planning, organizing, and directing many phases of a comprehensive and diversified human resource program. This position provides employee relations support to include handling internal complaints, workplace investigations and responds to general Human Resources issues from staff members. This individual will work on HR projects to include policy development and rollouts, design/conduct staff relations-related training and be part of a team approach to solving workplace issues.
- Ensure accuracy of data in the HRIS system as it relates to hires/terminations, benefits administration, compensation and performance issues. Ensure all departmental metrics regarding employee relations, staffing, training and retention are maintained timely and accurately. Ensure EEO-1 and VETS-100 information is collected as required and annual reports completed. Ensure Affirmative Action Plan is updated as required.
- Provide education, consultation, and direction to Meridian staff in human resources administration, policy interpretation, employee complaints/grievances, corrective action procedures, etc. Develop and conduct employee relations training of supervisors for coaching, management responsibilities and complaint handling as needed.
- Work with managers and employees as needed to resolve communication issues or resolve employee grievances (including those related to discrimination or sexual harassment). Investigate complaints of harassment and discrimination as needed and recommend appropriate action. Ensure proper documentation of all complaints and subsequent investigations.
- Identify employee needs with regard to reoccurring performance issues, training options and career planning. Make recommendations accordingly. Coordinate and document employee disciplinary issues.
- Manage entrance/exit interviews to determine reason for voluntary terminations, ensure data is recorded and reports prepared. Analyze results and recommend appropriate solutions to identified problems.
- Partner with Training/Development Manager to coordinate employee relations events such as employee parties, Brown Bag luncheons, supervisor retreats and other special events. Manage Employee Recognition and Service Awards programs.
- Ensure HR policy/procedures are updated annually and recommend potential enhancements to current human resource policies/practices.
- Maintain a positive, proactive customer service approach through cooperation and communication within the HR department and other departments/programs within the organization.
- Perform other duties as required to meet program and departmental goals and objectives or as assigned by SR VP of Human Resources.
Requirements:
A Master’s degree in Business, Organizational Development, Industrial Relations, or Human Resource Management and three years of HR generalist or employee relations experience
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organizational Development, Industrial Relations, or Human Resource Management and four years of employee relations experience. Experience can substitute for education.
SPHR or PHR strongly preferred.
